Initial Consultation
During the first visit, the fertility specialist conducts a comprehensive evaluation, including medical history, physical examination, and tests like hormonal profiles and ultrasound scans. This helps determine if IUI is the best option for the couple.
Ovarian Stimulation
The woman may be prescribed ovulation-inducing medications, such as Clomiphene Citrate, to stimulate the ovaries to produce one or more eggs. This ensures a higher chance of successful fertilization.
Monitoring Ovulation
Regular ultrasounds and blood tests monitor follicle development to pinpoint the ovulation window. At this stage, ovulation is triggered using a hormone injection.
Sperm Collection and Preparation
The male partner provides a semen sample, which is processed in the laboratory to separate the healthy, motile sperm from the rest. This ensures only high-quality sperm are used.
Insemination
The prepared sperm is carefully inserted into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is quick, painless, and typically completed within minutes.
Post-Insemination Care
After insemination, the patient may rest briefly before resuming normal activities. A follow-up is scheduled to confirm pregnancy using a blood test or ultrasound.
